The History of Tattoos

Most people think that tattoos have been around for a very long time, but in 1991, we find evidence to prove that the art of ink has been used by humans far longer than many would guess. What happened in 1991? Otzi Iceman found frozen in the highlands on the border between Italy and Austria. Good ol. Otzi, dead since 3300 BC, has 57 tattoos on his body's defeat. Otzi's tattoos are very primitive. Many of them consist of nothing more than a few dots or lines. Almost a fashion statement, alleged that Otzi's tattoos are used as a way to prevent arthritis.
Ancient tribes in the Middle East have also been found to have employed some interesting tattoo practice. Cremated ashes of a loved one is often used to fill self-inflicted wounds. This was done as a mark of respect and as a way to mourn the deceased.

Modern tattoo may owe some of its popularity to British Royalty. After visiting the less advanced cultures, such as the Tahitians, King George V was inspired by their practice of tattooing, so he asked for one tribe to ink him to a cross. Then, on the way to Japan, he received a dragon on his arm. After that, he hopped on his motorcycle and go cruising for chicks. Err. which may have been one of his distant relatives.
While it may seem contrary to the thought of tattoos as an upper-class activity, becoming only the 19th-century Europe. Even Winston Churchill's mother has a tat, a snake around his waist. Inspired by the woman, Winston himself sported an anchor tattoo on his arm for most of his life.
In the Western world, tattooing has evolved from a way to distinguish yourself as an upper-class to fashion identifier or attention grabber. In America, the tattoo is rampantly popular. It is estimated that as many as two thirds of young Americans have at least one tattoo. Ironically, this popularity is significantly triggered by World War II. Many American soldiers during a European tour tattoo, which is the continent more popular for tattoos at the time. When they returned to the house with a newly inked skin, practice makes its way into mainstream culture.

Tattoos are actually added to the popularity in the 1960s. Youth generation drug-smoking hippie free-spirit to bring forward a tattoo and center with what is considered "cool" at that time.
Criminal and gang subcultures also embraced tattoos. Therefore, the tattoo could not be further from the very company reputation "high class" from earlier. A lot of negative associations continue to use them as tattooed as a way of identifying themselves as members of gangs or prison inmates.
Negative implications gang members bring to the world of tattoos at least partially offset by a very benign form of tattoos, temporary tattoos. It became popular among elementary-school class in the 1990's because they give a normal tattoo effect without causing permanent damage to the skin. Most tattoos are made with no more than glue and pigment extracted from the vegetation. temporary tattoos are not held in the light of respectable by tattoo enthusiasts. It would not be wise to walk into the living room and asked the artist if they have temporary tattoos.
